WEDDING INVITATIONS

The correct shades for formal and traditional wedding invitations are white, ivory and soft cream. It is generally a good idea to also choose the heaviest weight paper.

You may also prefer a raised plate mark or margin. You may use either a large double sheet which is folded a second time or a single smaller sheet.

For formal invitations the shaded and antique Roman faces are traditional choices. Simple styles are the best.

No other ornament should be added to a formal invitation. The exception to this is a coat of arms.

In general the more formal the wedding the more formal the invitation.

Engraved invitations are the most traditional printing style. Engraving results in raised print.

Thermography also results in raised print but is less expensive. Lithography imprints lettering with ink and is the cheapest of the three.

Invitations may also be printed on a laser printer although I would not recommend this. A personal invitation may be handwritten when the Bride and Groom wish to personalize the Wedding. Secrets about Men!
