St Mihiel World War One

German held "St Mihiel", was the U.S. Army's first offensive. German High Command, aware of the coming attack, ordered a partial withdrawal.

September 12: U.S. Army attacks. Secondary assault with 110,000 French troops followed three hours later.

September 16: St Mihiel was under Allies control.
