Hermann W. Goering Biography

Hermann W. Goering, 1893-1946.

Hermann W. Goering was born Rosenheim, Bavaria, Jan. 12, 1893. He joined the army and became a World War I flying ace. Hermann W. Goering won the Pour le Merite, Germany's highest award for valor.

After the war he was an aviation agent. Later, in Sweden Hermann W. Goering married Karin von Kantzow. Goering was appointed commander of the SA (Storm Troopers). Later, Hermann W. Goering acted as a liaison with business and military circles. Was elected to the Reichstag in 1928.

His wife died in 1931. Hermann W. Goering later married actress Emmy Sonnemann.

In 1939, Hitler named Goering his official successor. Hermann W. Goering was rewarded with the new title of "Reichsmarschall. But he later became ill, and resorted to drugs. In April 1945, Hermann W. Goering tried to succeed Hitler. Goering was sentenced to death at the Nuremberg trials. However, Hermann W. Goering committed suicide in Nuremberg Oct. 15, 1946.
