Estimated Casualtie s: 41 total.

On May 15, Union gunboats, steamed up the James to the Richmond Confederate defenses. They encountered submerged obstacles and accurate fire from the batteries at Drewry’s Bluff. This inflicted heavy damage on the Galena. The Union gunboats retreated.
