Estimated Casualties : 1,090 total.

At dawn June 9, Union Cavalry Corps launched a surprise attack on Maj. Gen. J.E.B. Stuart’s Confederate Cavalry at Brandy Station. The battle raged all day, however, the Union retired. Brandy Station was the largest cavalry battle of the war.
