Malcolm X Biography

Malcolm X was Born: Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, Omaha, Nebraska.

His father was a Baptist minister and a supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey.

Malcolm X graduated from junior high top of his class.

In 1946, Malcolm was arrested and convicted on burglary charges.

During his term in prison, Malcolm X converted to the Muslim religious organization the "Nation of Islam".

He was paroled in 1952.

Malcolm chose the "X" to signify his lost tribal name.

Malcolm X was appointed a minister and national spokesman for the Nation of Islam.

In 1959, he was featured in a week-long television special with Mike Wallace.

Malcolm X married Betty Shabazz in 1958.

Malcolm X left the Nation of Islam, then went on to found the "Muslim Mosque", Inc.

A pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia changed many of Malcolm`s views, and on his return he had a message for all races.

On February 14, 1965 his home in East Elmhurst, New York was firebombed.

Malcolm X was assasinated at Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965.

Malcolm X is buried at the Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, New York.
