In 1935, The Valley Of Fire was dedicated a state park and is Nevada`s oldest state park.
The Valley has inherited its name from the hot red sandstone formations.
The park is 46,000 acres.
Around 180 million years ago the Valley of Fire was the bottom of a deep ocean basin.
The Park is located around 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
The formations in the park give the appearance of being on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.
