St. Louis Gateway Arch

The St. Louis Gateway Arch was designed by architect "Eero Saarinen" who had won a nationwide competition in 1947 to design a monument honoring western pioneers. Construction of the arch was completed on October 28, 1965.

At the time the Arch cost around 13 million dollars to construct. The St. Louis Gateway Arch stands 630 feet tall and is located on the banks of the Mississippi River.
