When lost in the wilderness, it is best to stay where you are and wait for rescue.
In the long term, if if there are other factors, you may have to make a move.
If you know where you want to go, then head there.
But if you have no clear idea, then follow water downstream.
When you leave a camp site, make sure to leave information such as how many in the group, what condition everone is in, and which direction you have moved in.
Set off in settled weather.
Move in groups, and check regularly to see if group is still intact.
