The Staffordshire Bull Terrier may be traced back to the Mastiff like dogs through the old Bulldog which, when crossed with British terriers, produced the first "Bull and Terriers.
It is thought that the Manchester Terrier and the English White Terrier were used in the cross.
A club for Staffordshire Bull Terriers was founded in England in 1935.
Staffordshires make excellent watchdogs and are easily trained.
Staffords are also a tough dog and love to roughhouse.
The Stafford is not a dog that tolerates harsh weather easily.
They are extremely sensitive to the heat.
