SIREN

Siren women were mermaids who lured sailors to their death by singing or playing music to lure the sailors into rocks.

The Greek hero Odysseus escaped the Siren by plugging the ears of his crew with wax.

Eventually they are bested by the music of Orpheus as he sails past with Argonauts they throw themselves into the sea and are transformed into rocks.
