Tsar Alexander III of Russia

Alexander Alexandrovich Romanov was born in St Petersburg, on March 10, 1845. During his early years he was tutored by Constantine Petrovich Pobedonostsev who entrenched very conservative ideas into his teaching of Alexander. After the early death of his brother, Alexander gained the title of Tsarevich.

Alexander III married the Danish Princess Dagmar in 1866. They had five children together. Alexander was regarded as a very good family man.

The 13 year reign of Alexander III was in many ways a reaction to the brutal murder of his Father.

Alexander III died October 20, 1894.
