King Richard 111 was born in Fotheringhay Castle, October 2, 1452.
He was the last king from the House of York, and his defeat at the Battle of Bosworth marked the culmination of the Wars of the Roses and the end of the Plantagenet dynasty.
Ascended the Throne : June 26, 1483.
Coronation : Westminster Abbey, July 6, 1483.
Married : Anne Neville, Daughter of Earl of Warwick.
Children : One son, several illegitimate children.
King Richard 111 died Bosworth, Leicestershire, August 22, 1485.
King Richard 111 was buried in Greyfriars Abbey, Leicester, later disinterred and desecrated.
During the reformation Richards bones were dug up and thrown into the River Soar.
