ROTTWEILER

The history of the Rottweiler is thought to be descended from the drover dogs of ancient Rome. These dogs accompanied the Roman Legions across the Alps herding cattle and guarding camps.

The dogs were also used in times of battle as attack dogs. Later on during the early 1900s the Rottweiler gained popularity as a police dog.

A Rottweiler needs to be watched at all times around children. Rottweilers have a natural guarding instinct.

Rottweilers are very loyal and affectionate to their owners. Early training is essential with this dog.

The ideal height is 61-68cm with a weight around 42kg.
