Lutheranism history can be traced to the work of Martin Luther.
Luther was a German monk, priest, and theologian.
He opposed the vast wealth and other prcatises of the Catholic Church and Luther sought to reform the church.
The Protestant Reformation was in effect started by Luther's writings.
On October 31, 1517, MartinLuther posted his 95 theses on the door of the castle church in Wittenberg.
This was the symbolic beginning of the Reformation.
Later, his translation of the bible significantly influenced English King James Version of the Bible.
It was Luther who wrote the hymns that lead to the development of congregational singing within Christianity.
These days, more then seventy million Christians belong to Lutheran churches worldwide.
