The Sumba Pony and Sumbawa Pony are named after the island on which they are bred--the Sumba Island and Sumbawa Island respectively.
However, the two breeds are similar enough that they may be considered one. The ponies descended from Mongolian Horses and ancient Chinese stock.

Height : 12.2 hh.
Colours : Dun with dorsal stripe.
Identifying features : Small head, short neck, small body, strong back, strong legs.
Very strong pony despite it`s small size, capable of carrying large loads.
