HOKKAIDO PONY

The Hokkaido horse is thought to have been brought during the Edo era (1600-1867) to Hokkaido by fishermen. These original importation came from Honshu.

Use : Saddle, pack.

Colours : All colours.

Height : 13 hh.

Identifying Features : Plain head, thickset body, flat withers, slender legs, good feet.

The Hokkaido is found in the northern island of Hokkaido in Japan. As in other Japanese breeds, the Hokkaido is found in most solid colors, and many are roan. White markings of any kind are rare and not allowed for registration.
