Calista Kay Flockhart (born November 11, 1964) is an Emmy Award-nominated, as well as Golden Globe-, Screen Actors Guild Award- and Theatre World Award winning American actress, primarily on soap operas and television. Flockhart attended Shawnee High School in Medford Township, New Jersey. Following her graduation in 1983, Flockhart attended the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Calista Flockhart starred as Laura in "The Glass Menagerie".

She was cast as the bride-to-be in Mike Nichols' "Birdcage".

Calista Flockhart auditioned for Ally McBeal, and she was offered the part. Ally McBeal became an immediate success.
