Yul Brynner Biography

Yul Brynner (born Taidje Khan) was born on the July 7, 1915 in Vladivostock, Russia. Brynner was famous for his trademark baldness. Yul spent his early years in china and paris before moving to the United States. During WWII (1941-D-Day) Brynner worked as a French speaking radio announcer and commentator for the US Office of War Information, broadcasting propaganda to occupied France.

Made his film debut in 1949 in "Port of New York". Some of the famous films of Brynner include: Westworld, Anna and the King, and The Magnificent Seven. Brynner's best-known role was that of King Mongkut of Siam in the Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical The King and I which he played 4,626 times onstage over the span of his career.

Yul Brynner dies in 1985 from lung cancer caused from years of heavy smoking.
