My best valentine's day was the valentine's day of the year 2000. I remember
it well. Everything that could've gone wrong went wrong. I had the recipe
wrong. I had not seen that it called for minute rice. I had to use regular
rice which of course throws off the timing for the whole recipe so the food
was ruined. Not only that, I was so distracted from not reading the recipe
right that I got frustrated and pretty much gave up on the plans I made. I
had planned a whole romantic dinner but I gave up so I set the table all
lousy. But once Ronaldo (my valentine) came, he kissed me and told me that he
appreciated my trying anyway beczuase he knows I'm not a good cook. At the
end of the night, Ronaldo held my hand, looked me in my eyes, told my he
loved me and that the night had been perfect. Despite all that went wrong,
because I had the perfect valentine, the night was perfect..

Looking back on my 29 years of life, I would have to say that the most memorable and romantic of all Valentine's days, would be this year....February 14, 2000. My husband and I have been struggling financially, since he decided to go back to school. It is something we both wanted him to do, but it has been difficult.
So, knowing we had very little money to waste, we decided that we wouldn't exchange gifts or go out for Valentine's Day. Of course I expected that to be the end of it, so imagine my surprise when he came up behind me on Valentine's Day and handed me a beautifully packaged box. Although I was very excited, I was also disappointed, I knew we had no money and I didn't get him anything. The best part occurred when I opened up the box and found a beautifully carved wooden heart with the words Be My Valentine engraved. On the bottom of the words were the letters I (a heart, for love) and U glued on.
I was crying and laughing at the same time.
My husband isn't usually so romantic and for him to have gone to so much trouble, really touched me. It is the little things like this that make me realize how lucky I really am.
