TRUE LOVE KNOT

Herb Paris is also known as the True Love Knot. It is used in a ceremony in which two girls sit in a room from midnight to one o'clock without speaking.

During this hour they pull out a hair from the other girls head for each year of that girls age. The hairs are placed on a white linen cloth with the herb.

When the clock strikes one the each hair must be individually burnt in the flame of a white candle while saying the words : "I offer this my sacrifice, To him most precious in my eyes, I charge thee now come forth to me, That I this minute may thee see".

The future husband will appear and walk around the room and then disappear. Neither girl will be able to see the other girls vision.
