HOW YOU MET

My husband and I met on August 20,1996 at the Southwest gate B6 in the Seatac airport. He was flying out to visit his sister in California and I was waiting the arrival of my sister from Arizona. I immediately noticed him when I was approaching the gate. He was wearing a baseball cap, khaki shorts and a red t-shirt. He was also in very good shape. He was in line waiting to check-in, so I stood in line directly behind him. After being check-inned he moved slightly away from the counter and began shuffling through his bag. It was obvious that he was finished checking in but I wanted him to notice me, so I asked him if he was still in line. He looked up at me with the most beautiful hazel eyes and stared at me for a moment. It took him a little while to respond and when he did, he stuttered out the word "no". I then asked the person behind the check-in desk a question and then proceeded to give my future husband a smile as I walked past him. I stood by a pole within view of him. He was holding a book but not reading it. He just stood there looking at me and smiling. He was about to walk over when a man approached me. It took me about five or so long minutes to get rid of this guy. He was a Doctor from Texas and had a big ego. He wouldn't take no for an answer. I kept looking at the other guy I was interested in to save me, but he just kept standing there. The cute guy then began to walk away. In my head, I yelled out "no, don't go!" Then he sat down in the waiting area within sight of me. I noticed there was an empty seat beside him, so I quickly made my move. I interrupted what the Doctor was saying to tell him I had to sit down and that it was nice meeting him. He then followed me to the sitting area! I then quickly sat down by the empty seat by the cute guy and said,"Hi". We weren't able to talk much because a second after we introduced ourselves, my sister was standing right beside me. I hadn't even noticed that the plane had arrived! We quickly exchanged numbers and he called me the next day from California. He told me later that he almost canceled his flight to California so he could talk to me some more.

The strange thing about meeting my husband is that about two weeks earlier, while I was in church I had made a silent prayer wish to God. I wished to meet a nice, handsome man with high morals. A man who would put me on a pedestal. And being even pickier... a man who was athletic and in the military or in law enforcement. Well, God must have listened to my prayer because he was all those things and still is: nice, handsome, puts me #1,high morals, athletic, in the army reserves (use to be active duty) and is a State Trooper. We have two children (girl and boy) and are planning on having more.
