Eli Whitney was born in 1765, in Westboro, Massachusetts. Whitney was a graduate of Yale.

Eli was famous for being the inventor of the "cotton gin". In 1794, Whitney took out a patent on his cotton gin. The gin extracted seeds from cotton. Eli Whitney died in 1825.
