Elisha Otis Biography

Elisha Otis was born in 1811, in Halifax, Vermont. In 1852, Otis invented a safety device to stop elevators from falling. In 1857, Otis developed the first passenger elevator. Elisha eventually founded the Otis Elevator Company.
