The Waler Horse originated in Australian developed from the horse stock that was brought to the Australian colonies in the 1800s.
The name comes from the fact they were first bred in New South Wales and so were known as New South Walers.
Use : Stock work, riding.
Height : 15 - 16 hh.
Colours : All solid colours.
Identifying Features : Physique variable, but usually Thoroughbred or Hunter type.
Originally named the Wlaer, it`s name was changed in 1971 to the Australian Stock Horse.
Thousands were shipped to Europe during WW11.
