The Mangalarga is a Brazilian horse breed that originated from the Francisco Gabriel Junqueira (Baron of Alfenas) work with Royal Alter stallions from Portugal that were mixed with colonial horses in Brazil.
Use : Saddle, riding, stockwork.
Height : 14 - 16 hh.
Colours : Bay, chestnut, roan, grey.
Identifying Features : Long head, short back, strong hindquarters, long legs, low set tail.
Developed about 100 years ago.
