The Camargue is an ancient breed of horse found in the Camargue area in Southern France.

Colours : Grey.
Identifying Features : Heavy head, short neck, upright shoulders, thick set body, short well formed legs, powerful quarters, low set tail.
Descended from prehistoric horses.
The Camargue still roam wild today.
In 1976, the French government set standards for the horse breed, and registered the main breeders of the Camargue horse.
In 1978, they set up the Camargue breed Stud Book.
