INHERITED HEALTH PROBLEMS

Menopause : If your mother suffered from menopause problems, it does not mean you will too. There is no clear answer to how much of a role genetics play in the type of menopause you may have.

Osteoporosis : A family history of the problem will put you at risk. Weight bearing exercise can help maximise bone mass.

Diabetes : Type 2 diabetes has strong family link. Type 2 diabetes is more often passed down by mothers.

Fibroids : Affetcs 1 in 4 women over 35. You are at higher risk if your mother or sister has this problem.

Endometriosis : You may be at greater risk if your mother or sister suffers from this. Aerobic exercise will help reduce the risk.

Depression : A family history may put you in line.

Pregnancy : Certain features of pregnancy may be passed down from your mother. Some problems include, high blood pressure, premature labour and gestational diabetes.

Skin Cancer : Skin cancer can sometimes run in families.
