Trick or Treat Origins
Although the origins of halloween can be traced back to the Celtic festival of Samhain, the practise of trick or treat matured down through time.
One such custom was the begging for soul cakes in Britain.
The poor would go begging from house to house, and the housewives would give them treats called "soulcakes".
This was called "going a-souling", and the "soulers" would promise to say a prayer for the dead.
As time progressed, the towns children became the beggars.
As they went from house to house they would be given duns, apples and money.
