Jack-o-lantern
The "Jack-o-lantern:, is the festival light for Halloween.
In times gone past it was the ancient symbol of a damned soul.
The Irish use to carve out beets or turnips as lanterns to represent the souls of the dead.
The Lanterns were intended to frighten away evil spirits.
But when the Irish migrated to America, they started using Pumpkins to carve the Jack O'Lanterns.
