The Takarabune was a phantom treasure ship of the Japanese.
It sails every year on New Years Day into port bringing good fortune to those who see it.
No sailors have been seen abroad the ship which appears to be empty.
According to tradition, if a picture of the Takarubane is purchased on New Year`s Day and placed under the pillow it will bring good fortune.
It is considered good luck as well as traditional.
