National Anthems of the World

A National Anthem of a country is a highly patriotic musical composition that evokes the highest level of national pride. Often a national anthem will involved the nations history, traditions and struggles. The anthem is usually recognized by the government as the official national song. In some countries during history people have united under a different anthem then that of the official anthem. The worlds oldest national anthem is the "Wilhelmus" from the Netherlands that was written between 1568 and 1572. Because of early European influence, the national anthems of most countries have strong European influence. The most famous and well known Anthem of the world, britains "God Save the Queen", was written by an unknown. Aside from a countries national anthem, there are also royal anthems, presidential anthems and state anthems.
