Paco Rabanne

Paco Rabanne (Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo) was born February 18, 1934 in San Sebastián, Spain. He moved to France and studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, in Paris.

Rabanne sold plastic jewellery to Balenciaga, Dior and Givenchy. In 1966, Paco founded his own fashion house.

Rabanne gained attention for his use of unconventional materials such as metal, paper and plastic.

Paco went on to design for 35 films, as well as numerous ballets and plays. Some of his famous clients included Brigette Bardot, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.

Rabanne was awarded the Golden Thimble at the lst International Festival of Fashion in 1989. Paco presented his final collection in 1999.
