Muriel King was born in Bayview, Washington, in 1901.
King studied art at the University of Washington.
After University, Muriel worked as a fashion illustrator for both Harpers Bazaar and Vogue.
King went to Europe in 1927 where she freelanced as a fashion artist.
Muriel then returned to the United States and eventually opened her own salon at East 61st Street, New York.
King went on to design the personal wardrobe for movie actress Katherine Hepburn.
From 1935 to 1944, Muriel designed costumes for Eight major movies.
King retired in 1957.
She passed away in 1977.
