Herbert Kasper

Herbert Kasper was born in New York City, on December 12, 1926. Kasper studied English at the New York University from 1949-53. He then studied fashion at Parsons School of Design, New York from 1951-53. In 1953, Herbert went to Paris where he studied at the l'École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.

For a while Kasper worked in Paris as a free-lance assistant designer before returning to New York and founding his own label.

In 1963, he started designing for Joan Leslie in New York, becoming vice president in 1980. He left in 1985.

Herbert Kasper recieved numerous awards including the Coty American Fashion Critics award, 1955, 1970, 1976; Cotton Fashion award, 1972; Maas Brothers Pavilion design award, 1983; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Governor of Alabama award, Ronald MacDonald House award, 1984.
