Betsey Johnson was born August 10, 1942, in Connecticut.
Johnson studied at the Pratt Institute, and later at the Syracuse University.
Early in her fashion career, Betsey won the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest.
Johnson then became in-house designer for the Manhattan boutique, Paraphernalia.
She opened opened her own boutique called, Betsey Bunki Nini, in 1969.
Johnson won the, Coty Award, in 1972.
Betsey was inducted into the Fashion Walk of Fame, in 2002.
Her range has expanded include lingerie, jeans, shoes, handbags, hats and more.
