Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs was born in 1960 in New York. Marc studied at the High School of Art and Design in New York City and graduated in 1981.

For awhile he worked as a stockboy at Charivari in New York. Jacobs then attended Parsons School of Design and won the Perry Ellis Golden Thimble award.

Jacobs also was awarded the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award. In 1984, Marc was awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America's prize for new talent.

He joined Perry Ellis in 1988. He left in 1993, and with With Robert Duffy, formed Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc.

Jacobs was voted Womenswear Designer of the Year by the CFDA in 1997.
