Carla Zampatti was born in Italy and went on to become one of Australia's fashion pioneers.

She started designing in 1965.

Zampatti created her own style of fashion which was a blend of Australian and Italian.

Carla Zampatti has won a host of awards including, Member in the Order of Australia (OAM), Lyrebird Award, the Bulletin/Qantas Businesswoman of the Year Award, the "Ufficiale of the Italian Republic", and voted Designer of the Year in the 1994 FIA awards.

Her designs are worn by some of the best known women in Australia, including the wives of Prime ministers.
