Founded by John Redfern. John Redfern was born in England in 1853.

Originated in the 1880s.

Started in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, but eventually spread to London and New York.

In 1888, Redfern was appointed dressmaker to Queen Victoria. In 1916, he created the first women's uniform for the Red Cross.

The Houses closed in the 1920s. Redfern passed away in 1929.
