The "crocodile" was suggested by Lacoste's friends who likened him to the animal.

Lacoste established La Chemise Lacoste Company in the year 1933.
In 1950, he was awarded the ’Legion of Honour’ for his services to French Tennis.
Lacoste once said , the crocodile demonstrated his style on the tennis court.
