Christian Dior Biography

Christian Dior was born in Normandy, France on January 21, 1905. Dior attended the College Stanislas, and then the Paris Institute of Political Studies. Christian had come from a wealthy family.

During the 1930s Dior worked as a freelance fashion artist for various newspapers and magazines. In 1938, Dior joined courturier Robert Long as a fashion designer.

In 1942, Dior joined Lelong. In 1946, Dior established his main house of couture in Paris. Christian Dior became best known for his 1947 "New Look", which was in striking contrast to the wartime fashions at that time.

In 1953, the famous designer Yves Saint-Laurent became Dior's assistant. Christian Dior died in 1957, in the lobby of the Hotel Pace. His House still continues today.
