Margaret Howell was born in 1946 in Surrey, England.
Gowell studied at Goldsmiths's College, London.
Margaret originaly started designing accessories before moving into clothing in 1972.
In 1974, Howell founded her own design company and soon after opened her first retail salon.
Howell gaines media attention when Diana, Princess of Wales, chose one of Margaret Howells designs to wear at a Genesis concert.
Her collections are on display at the Museum of Costume, Bath, Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
