Hubert de Givenchy Biography

Hubert de Givenchy was born February 21, 1927, in France. Givenchy was born into a wealthy family of nobility.

He studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris and by 1945, Givenchy had his first designs. By 1952, Givenchy opened his own house in Paris.

Some of his most famous customers were Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, The Duchess of Windsor, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

In 1968, Givenchy introduced his prêt-à-porter collection. In 1981, the House of Givenchy was split. Veuve Clicquot took control of the perfume line. The Givenchy fashion branch went to the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group.
