John Galliano

John Galliano was born in Gibraltar in 1961. The family moved to London in 1966.

Galliano studied at Wilsons Grammar School, then later he attended St. Martins College of art. For awhile, John worked with Tommy Nutter in Savile Row.

His graduation collection called "Les Incroyables" (inspired by the French Revolution), was taken up by Joan Burstein of Browns. They imediatly sold with one by singer Diana Ross.

Galliano soon founded his own label. John Galliano was awarded British Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994, 1995 and in 1997, he shared the award with Alexander McQueen.

During the 1990s, Galliano moved to Paris and was eventually appointed as the designer of Givenchy. In 1996, Galliano moved to Dior.
