Istvan Francer

Istvan Francer was born in 1957 in Yugoslavia. Francer had a natural sketching talent and attended the Belgrade Academy of Applied Arts.

For awhile, Istvan worked as a costume designer at the Budapest theatre before shifting to the United States where he studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York.

Francer was awarded the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for student designer of the year. He then went to work for Donna Karan as a designer until 2001.

Francer then launched his own label with his debut collection in 2002.

In 2002, Francer was appointed creative director at Italian house of Cerruti, but left after two seasons.
