Luis Estevez was born in 1930 in Havana, Cuba.
Estevez studied architecture at the University of Havana, and fashion design at the Traphagen School, New York.
After his studied, Luis worked for awhile as a window display designer for Lord and Taylor.
Then from 1953 to 1955, Estevez was a design assistant at the House of Patou in Paris.
In 1955 Estevez moved to New York and founded his own fashion business, a company called Grenelle-Estévez.
In 1956, Estevez was recieved the Coty American Fashion Critics award.
In 1968, Luis moved to California where he opened a salon.
In 1962, Estevez and a group of leading fashion designers, founded the the CFDA (the Council of Fashion Designers of America).
Luis Estevez was awarded the Hispanic Designers Life Time Achievement Award in 1990.
