Alber Elbaz

Alber Elbaz was born in 1961 in Morocco. When he was only ten, his family immigrated to Israel.

Elbaz attended the Shenker School of fashion and textiles in Tel Aviv. Albar moved to New York where he eventually gained employmant with Geoffrey Beene.

In 1997, Elbaz moved to Paris to join Guy Laroche. Then in 1998, he made the move to Yves St. Laurent where he designed their ready-to wear.

In October 2001, Alber Elbaz was appointed the new creative director at the house of Lanvin. By Fall 2002, he had presented his first collection. In 2005, Elbaz was awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for Best International Designer.
