Sybil Connolly was born in Wales in 1921.
In her early years Connolly served as an apprentice with Bradleys dressmakers in London.
In 1939, Sybil moved to Dublin.
Connolly joined the fashion house of Richard Alan and by 1945 she was a Director.
Connolly eventually went on to design a couture line under her own name for Richard Alan.
In 1957, Sybil Connolly founded her own fashion house.
Sybil gained popular attention for her method of hand-pleating fine linen.
Connolly was also well known for using traditional Irish textiles such as Carrickmacross lace, Irish crochet and Donegal tweedsin her designs.
Connolly passed away in 1998.
