John Cavanagh was born 1914 in Ireland.
Cavanagh moved to Paris where he gained employment with the House of Edward Molyneux.
Later, he left and then worked for Pierre Balmain from 1947 to 1951.
Cavanagh moved then to London in 1952 and founded his own fashion house.
Cavanagh designed the wedding dresses for the Duchess of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
He retired in 1974.
John Cavanagh was a member of the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers.
