Bonnie Cashin was born 1915 in Oakland, California.
Her mother was a dressmaker.
Bonnie studied at the Chouinard School of Art in Pasadena and the Art Students League in Manhattan.
Cashin designed for Sportswear firm Adler and Adler, then after she designed handbags for the Coach company.
In 1943, she started designing for 20th Century Fox in Hollywood.
Cashin designed costumes for more then 30 films.
Cashin was awarded the American Designers Coty Award in 1961.
Cashin founded the Knittery for the manufacture of hand-knitted clothing from hand-spun yarns in 1972.
She passed away on February 3rd, 2000.
